The Earl of Ambermere and his family flee the mob in London for his mansion in the country. The Earl is caught and executed by insurgents and the Ambermere females fall under their control and as wicked recalcitrants are sentenced to public punishment and serve in the most lowly of public services. The countess living in the kennels with the dogs and emerging only to service a succession of militiamen and randy locals, the younger Ambermeres working in a coal mine and her cousin Alice pulling a cart.
