BIOGRAPHY Elizabeth Melton Parsons is a freelance writer for The Capitol News, published author, award winning poet and artist. An English major she was born in the state of Michigan and grew up dividing her time between Michigan and South Florida. As a child she loved the Everglades in South Florida and still misses the ocean. Elizabeth was born the 5th child of six, with four brothers and one sister. Her parents were hardworking farmers who instilled in her a love of the rural life and faith in God. Elizabeth always loved books, learning to read at an early age. After reading poems by Emily Dickinson and The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe at the age of 12, she began to write her own poetry and short stories. Elizabeth now resides in the beautiful rural countryside of the Midwest with her husband, sons, and a boxer named Charlie. A member of the IWWG (International Women's Writing Guild) Elizabeth loves writing romantic tales interwoven with intrigue, mystery and suspense. Being a member of various writing groups and workshops has helped to define her realistic and unique style that has come to be known and loved both nationally and internationally.
