A few quotes from the novel to indicate where we're going:

I sometimes think that God, in creating man, somewhat overestimated his abilities.

It serves me right for putting all my eggs in one bastard.

Two things are infinite; the universe and human stupidity: and I'm not sure about the universe.

Hector Gunn and the Afghan Heroin War

    • Average 5.0 from 2 ratings
      • Now with a name like Cleis, daughter of Sappho, you are going to have
half a notion of where I'm coming from but any book with a six foot
ballerina who swears like a fishwife and shags like a gymnast is going
to get my five star vote whither she's straight or not. This is one
funny book, Shona the ballet dancer is a hoot. Hector is a Royal
Marine, she detests the military as being murdering bastards. He
agrees with her and tells her that he's an artist, a novelist.
Meanwhile he's out there with his sniper rifle bumping people off on
behalf of the Secret Intelligence Agency. When she does discover what
he's up to it's too late, she in way too deep. The argue a lot, they
shag a lot. Go for this one, it's worth every penny. 5 out of 5
        (Cleis)
      • This is a very serious book about how the American, British and
international banks are now the main players in distributing heroin
throughout the world. But it is unexpectedly fast paced, full of
action and most of all funny. Hector is a hit man for the Special Boat
Service and the Secret Intelligence Service. His lady, Shona, a
six-foot one ballerina who swears like a trooper but looks like an
angel dances with Scottish Ballet and hates the military with a
vengeance. She sees them as arbitrary murderers. In order to get into
her pants Hector tells her that he is a simple novelist. She decides
he needs protection. This one is a terrific read. They fall in love,
they fall out of love. They fight, they argue, they make up. Buy it,
it’s worth every penny. 5 out of 5 (Scathach)

I've just killed four nice, well brought up, well-educated, middle-class, English boys right here in the heart of the UK. Why?

Well it began way back. You see early in 2001 the Afghan Taliban, in an attempt to get their population off heroin, began to burn the Afghan poppy crop. The American and International Banks who were currently financing the world wide distribution of this product started to lose their fifteen per cent cut, three hundred million dollars each and every month.

Requiem For A Bubble Head

    • Average 5.0 from 1 ratings
      • Angus is at the end of his tether. He used to know who he was and what
he was doing. He had purpose. Now after having found his wife in bed
with another woman he is lost. This is a fine piece of work. It's
written with wit and humour and full of mystery and questions. Has
Angus actually managed to kill Seonaid, his wife? The body has
vanished. Why is the beautiful Phoebe claiming to be visiting the
village for the first time when most of the locals seem to know her?
Who placed the Deadly Nightshade plant on the mantle piece while they
were out? Who put the sea snake venom in Angus’ bottled water?

Angus knows only too well that the sixties gave the women liberation.
They no longer view themselves as the Second Sex. You mess with their
head, they will mess with yours. Now Angus is getting his head screwed
with big time. Read on, I loved it.

Only two things in this life have ever managed to get right up my nose. The first being civilians, because they don't have a clue. The second, those useless wankers in the SAS who's only aim in life is to get on telly and have their picture flashed all over the world in a balaclava that's been spruced up in their boyfriend's Fairy Liquid.

My mob, we do what needs to be done and keep our mouths shut and our heads down. Most folks don't know that we exist. We stay in the background, unseen and unreported and that's the way we like it.
