 | STORY DESCRIPTION Maggie Kingston grew up dreaming of a life full of adventure and excitement and was determined to make that all a reality when she was an adult. Her childhood had been surrounded with adults that were willing to accept the routine and mundane, but Maggie was going to have none of it for herself. But as she finished up high school and went off to college, the reality of what life was requiring of her set in and reluctantly she let go of her childhood aspirations.
She moved into a small cabin in rural Tennessee with her college boyfriend, Allen Brenner, and took a position in a local school while Allen found work as a field geologist for the USGS. But a horrible and tragic accident killed Allen leaving Maggie feeling lost and confused as to what she should do now. However, a large legal settlement from Allen's death cam Maggie's way and she, along with her canine companion, Barstow, a chocolate Labrador Retriever, hit the road to get away from the bad memories of Tennessee with the hopes of rekindling her childhood longings for adventure.
They finally settled in Lake City, Colorado after a long tour of the US where Maggie was sure she had found a perfect, quiet new life. But a discovery of this old abandoned mine shaft on the property behind her new home in Lake City brought back all those old dreams of adventure to her and unexpectedly Maggie and Barstow found themselves in the middle of an adventure they could not have imagined when they departed Tennessee. Why had no one in Lake City known about this old mine shaft and more curiously why was there an old door underground as an entryway to the tunnels?
Come along with Maggie and Barstow as they enter into the adventure of a lifetime that hopefully will not put them in more danger and peril than they had planned on.....
| Author information: Craig grew up in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in central Virginia??"the "real Virginia"??"and migrated by circumstance into a career in molecular biology research. His natural love of animals never left him through the years and you will find this influence in most all of his writing now. His writing efforts evolved later in life fueled by a strong desire for creativity with ideas often originating from dreams. Unlike many other authors, Craig does not seem to focus in a particular genre, but writes in a variety of areas as new ideas present themselves. Besides basic animal themes, you will find his writing touching on the spiritual, magical, and supernatural at times.
Craig lives Tulum, Mexico now with a very demanding wiener dog, Maddie.
