She is the daughter of English aristocracy and the granddaughter of ‘Jack the Ripper’ but Emma is also a serial killer. In her teens she had an affair with a Catholic Cardinal resulting in an unwanted pregnancy.
The setting is 1960s in a mining town in Nottinghamshire, England. Emma is forced to marry a miner but resumes her affair with the excommunicated Cardinal. The cardinal turned miner is tortured and meets his death in the depths of the mine at the hands of Emma’s brutal husband. But death cannot separate Emma from her former lover.
Emma has two great obsessions, her infatuation with her dead lover and her compulsion for killing. But they are particular about who they kill and they always enjoy it; the blood, the pain, the fear, right down to the final twitch. But they are part of a bigger plan, a plan involving ‘The Brotherhood’ and secrets that the Catholic Church has tried to hide for decades.
It's all here; love, lust, human frailty, jealousy, hatred, aggression, compassion, forbidden truths and forbidden fruit.
