| | STORY DESCRIPTION An engineer is laid off, with no warning. The only job that he can get is investigation of an alien spacecraft, which turns out to be a lifeboat.
The lifeboat contains very little of useful scientific information. It does contain a small, very young alien girl. To establish a rapport, the engineer buys her a teddy bear.
